General Manager, Finance - Japanese Speaking
(based in Yokohama/Okinawa, Japan)
Responsibilities
- Manage the development budget effectively, ensuring allocation of resources in line with project objectives and financial targets.
- Oversee cash flow requirements, including sourcing funds from equity partners and securing bank financing, to support project development and construction activities.
- Maintain accurate financial records and forecasts to track project expenditure and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Coordinate with project management teams to monitor spending, identify cost-saving opportunities, and mitigate financial risks throughout the development lifecycle.
- Monitor the financial account closing process, ensuring timely and accurate completion, and liaise with accountants and auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes.
- Work closely with stakeholders to evaluate investment opportunities, assess financial viability, and optimize capital allocation strategies.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to support decision-making processes and drive profitability in line with project timelines and objectives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to negotiate financing terms, manage debt obligations, and optimize funding structures for project sustainability.
- Develop and implement financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets, minimize financial risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead financial planning and analysis initiatives to support strategic business initiatives, identify growth opportunities, and drive performance improvements across the organization.
- Foster a culture of financial accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement within the finance team and across project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Candidate must possess Degree in Accounting or professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CIMA or its equivalent from reputable universities in Japan.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in construction/property development/hotel, with experience in Japan preferred.
- Demonstrated integrity, dynamism, target orientation, and strong leadership qualities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated and able to work well under pressure.
- Proficiency in spoken and written Japanese and English.
